Indelible’s Chief of Staff, Aboye Jinkiri returned to her alma mater, Penn State Law, to take part in the JD Advantage Careers virtual panel for the university’s Explore Law program. On Wednesday, June 23, Jinkiri joined fellow Penn State Law alumni Kelly McFall and Shamsiddin Little to share insight into her journey and experience building a career at the intersection of law and business.

Moderated by Amanda DiPolvere, Associate Dean for Enrollment and Career Development at Penn State Law, the panelists discussed how JDs have helped them throughout their careers, recommended courses to support a wide scope of interests outside of a career practicing law, and addressed many of the attendee’s concerns about any resistance prospective employers, family members, or friends might have to their decision not to practice law. 

Attendees of the Explore Law program include undergraduate students from a diverse range of majors, schools, and states. The Explore Law program is designed to increase underrepresented students with access to legal education by providing context on law school’s admission process, courses, LSAT preparation, and legal career opportunities. 

The students included in this cohort identify as members of a racial or ethnic group underrepresented in the practice of law; mentally or physically disabled; LGBTQ+; or first-generation college students. 

Jinkiri said it was an honor to speak at her alma mater and engage the next generation of law school students. “Had I known that law school was in the plan for me, I would have, without question, welcomed the opportunity to take part in a program like Explore Law. I am grateful the program exists to make the journey to law school less intimidating by providing prospective law student with meaningful connections to Penn State Law admission and alumni.”
